In 1987, 1988, and 1989, 1011 live Crotalus atrox were examined at the Waynoka, Okeene, Apache, Waurika, and Mangum rattlesnake roundups in Oklahoma. Males are the more numerous in each local sample. At birth, the average size of males exceeds that of females and the differential increases with age, with adult males being about 10 % larger than femals. ..."

During a study of the giant toads of Brazil , I compared a series of 91 Bufo icterius Spix from Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo with 75 somewhat similar toads from Santa Catharina and found the latter deserving of subspecific recognition.
