Blair, W. Frank (1960): A breeding population of the mexican toad (Bufo valliceps) in relation to its environment. - Ecology, 51 (1): 165-174.

This work was done to learn how a population exists in time under environmental oscillations. The Mexican toad was chosen for study because of ready availability of an study population and because it is a hygric-type terrestrial heterotherm with high potential natality. ...

Carr & Stancyk (1975): Observations on the Ecology and Survival Outlook of the Hawksbill Turtle

Carr, Archie & Stephen Stancyk (1975): Observations on the Ecology and Survival Outlook of the Hawksbill Turtle. - Biol. Concerv., 8: 161-172.

"The hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) has declined to endangered status before its ecology has been adequately investigated. A limited amount of data on the species has accumulated at the Green Turtle Station at Tortuguero, on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. Stomach contants of 29 mature turtles (11 males, 13 females and 5 unsexed), killed by the shell hunters on Tortuguero Bank, are listed. Tag returns that have been recorded add to knowlegde of remigratory and renesting intervals, multiple nesting, philopatry and post-breeding movements. The bearing of the reproductive isolation of separate island colonies on the survival position of the genus is briefly discussed."

Carr et al. (1974): Internesting Behavior of the Green Turtle, Chelonia mydas, at a Mid-Ocean Island Breeding Ground

Carr, Archie, Perran Ross & Stephen Carr (1974): Internesting Behavior of the Green Turtle, Chelonia mydas, at a Mid-Ocean Island Breeding Ground. - Copeia, 1974, 3: 703-706.

"Three female green turtles were tracked during the internesting interval at Ascension Island, central equatorial Atlantic. The average speed of movement along the nesting shore was about 1.5 km/hr, with maximum speed of at least 7.2 km/hr attained. Two of the travel paths showed clear concurrence and were similar to a plot from other data obtained in 1969. Some direct observations on the behavioral ecology ot the females between nestings are reported.

Fitch & Pisani (1993): Life History Traits of the Western Diamond Rattlesnake (Crotalus atrox) Studied from ... Oklahoma

Fitch, Henry S. & George R. Pisani (1993): Life History Traits of the Western Diamond Rattlesnake (Crotalus atrox) Studied from Roundup Samples Oklahoma. - Occasional Papers of the Museum of Natural History University of Kansas, Lawrence, 156: 1-24.

In 1987, 1988, and 1989, 1011 live Crotalus atrox were examined at the Waynoka, Okeene, Apache, Waurika, and Mangum rattlesnake roundups in Oklahoma. Males are the more numerous in each local sample. At birth, the average size of males exceeds that of females and the differential increases with age, with adult males being about 10 % larger than femals. ..."
